Going the DIY Route? Here’s What Makes an iRail Install a Weekend Win

If you’re a confident owner-builder, there’s something genuinely satisfying about fitting your own fence. Our iRail system is built with exactly that in mind — here’s how to set yourself up for a smooth, no-surprises weekend.

Meet iRail

iRail is our DIY-friendly balustrade system, designed so the panels go together and fit on-site without a specialist crew — while still using the same 316 marine-grade cable and powder-coated aluminium as our professional ranges.

What You’ll Need

Standard trade tools and a bit of confidence measuring, levelling and drilling into your particular substrate — timber, concrete or steel. If you’ve handled a deck or fencing project before, you’ll feel right at home.

The Simple Sequence

  • Confirm your substrate can take the fixing loads (our Building Regulations for Balustrades post covers what to check)
  • Mark out post positions, keeping AS 1926.1 gap requirements in mind for pool areas
  • Fix posts and panels following the supplied instructions
  • Fit and fine-tune the gate hardware last, once everything’s secure

The One Step to Never Skip

Once it’s up, get it checked against the standard — most states require formal pool fence certification before it’s officially compliant. Happy to chat through your site before you order, so there are no surprises on install day.
