Finding “The One”: A Quick Guide to Choosing Your Powder-Coat Colour

Why It Matters More Than You’d Think

Your fence or balustrade sits in view all year round, framing your pool, deck or entry. Nail the colour and it elevates everything around it.

The Undertone Trick

Look at what’s already in your home — warm brick or timber loves a warmer neutral frame, while cooler render or stone pairs beautifully with charcoal, black or cool grey. Mismatched undertones are usually the real reason a colour feels slightly “off,” even when the shade itself looks fine on its own.

Here’s a good example: a weathered steel finish paired with merbau timber posts and decking. The powder-coat tone is close enough to the timber that the metal reads as an extension of the wood rather than a hardware detail — it’s a neat trick if you love a timber look but don’t want the upkeep that comes with it everywhere.

What’s Popular Right Now

Darker, low-sheen finishes still look crisp against greenery and pool water, while lighter neutrals are having a moment for homes that want the frame to quietly blend in rather than stand out. Our Colour Chart has the full current lineup.

Try Before You Commit

If you can, look at a physical sample in the actual spot it’ll live — colour shifts more than people expect between full sun, shade, and that golden dusk light when the pool area gets the most use.
